Behind the Stories
I’m E. J. Currie. I write about people trying to choose their own lives in worlds that make it difficult.
My own story includes a childhood in the Poconos, an early love of writing, and a return to worlds I wasn’t finished with.
The Longer Journey
I was born in New York and grew up in the Poconos. A creative writing program in junior high gave me room to explore storytelling, and NaNoWriMo became part of that journey.
I went on to write and publish Retribution. After years away from writing, I returned to the stories I wasn’t finished telling—and began making room for new ones.
Worlds Today
Today, I’m revising Retribution and continuing to develop the Awakened Series. I’m also working on Ashes Remember, set in Fractured Earth, and The Echo Cradle, set in The Broken Chorus.
Each gives me different people, questions, and possibilities to explore.
Things That Fuel Me
Away from my own stories, I’m usually finding my way into someone else’s. I love reading fantasy, paranormal fiction, science fiction, and romance, and playing games like Baldur’s Gate, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect.
Painting, music, anime, and traveling with my family round out the things I return to when I need a change of pace.

E. J. Currie writes fantasy exploring power, identity, and the struggle to choose a life of one’s own. Born in New York and raised in the Poconos, E.J. began exploring storytelling through a junior-high creative writing program and NaNoWriMo.
E.J. is the author of Retribution, Book One of The Awakened Series, and is developing Ashes Remember, set in Fractured Earth, and The Echo Cradle, set in The Broken Chorus.
Beyond writing, E.J. enjoys reading, gaming, painting, music, anime, and traveling with family. Onyx stays close by, while Jewels claims whichever computer or notebook is currently in use.
